VIRTUAL TOURS

"These virtual tours allow us to visit Normandy when at the moment this is not possible for a lot of people...Patrick is excellent, and brings the history of each area alive."

What is a virtual D-Day tour? How can I join one? How much does it cost? On this page you'll find everything you need to know about our virtual tours.

We've been providing virtual D-Day tours since June 2020. All our tours are LIVE and given in English. You only need three things to join one of our tours:

  • an up-to-date computer, tablet or smartphone

  • a good internet connection

  • a comfortable place to relax and watch the show

There are two main types: webinar tours and on-location tours.

Webinar tours

Webinar tours use exclusive pre-recorded video from our walking tours, combined with 3D maps, archive material, military maps, and infographics. Webinar tours are brought to you LIVE from our HQ in Normandy using livestreaming or the Zoom platform. Tours last between 60 to 90 minutes, and you can interact and ask questions with the chat feature. Webinar tours are normally scheduled throughout the year. Subscribers can participate in the 'Zoom Platoon' Q&A and discussion after the webinar.

On-location tours

Patrick Hilyer

On-location tours are brought to you LIVE from the D-Day beaches and battlefields using 4G technology, HD livestreaming and the Zoom platform. Each virtual walking tour lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, walking in the footsteps of the heroes of D-Day. Members can interact and ask questions with the chat feature, and Subscribers can do so by using their microphones during the 'Zoom Platoon' debriefing session. On-location tours are normally scheduled and available during the summer season (from March 1st to October 31st).

There are 2 different tour programs:

Scheduled Tours

This format is great if you’re looking for an introduction to D-Day. You can ask questions using the chat feature, and there is no limit to the number of participants. Most scheduled tours are FREE, and you can make a contribution when you book your ticket, after the tour via PayPal, or by subscribing.

Private Tours

Private tours are designed around you – which site(s) you’d like to visit and when you’d like to visit them. We work out a mutually convenient time – any day, any time from 8am to 9pm (Paris Time). You can invite friends, family members or colleagues to join the tour as up to 5 screens are included in the ticket price. Private tours are 99€ plus a small booking fee. These tours make excellent gifts, and we can even send you a gift voucher for the recipient at no extra cost.

Scheduled Tours run several times per month and usually begin at 8pm (Paris Time). Dates for forthcoming scheduled tours are posted below, on eventbrite.com and on the We Love Normandy Facebook Events page.
